Welcome to the 2020 Ontario, Oregon Construction Combine!
Dates & Location TBD
Join us for this hiring and training event to give local contractors the opportunity to interact with youth and military veteran job seekers in the construction trades industry!
Job seekers will demonstrate their skills and learn new ones in the CONSTRUCTION COMBINE. They will have plenty of opportunity to demonstrate their motivation, meet with contractors, and potentially be offered at the end of the event.
The 2019 event took place in the parking lot of the Home Depot in Ontario, OR, located at 311 East Lane on March 20-21.
The Home Depot Foundation believes in improving the lives of U.S. veterans, and training tradespeople to fill the labor gap.
Oregon trainee participants must be 18 years or older to attend.
This 2-day event will consist of safety training, applied building skills, networking, and will culminate with an NFL-inspired draft where contractors can offer jobs directly to the trainees!
Under the direction of local contractors, trainees will learn basics such as:
Framing, Concrete, Roofing, Painting, Plumbing, and Electrical.
Trainees will build storage sheds while rotating through various contractor training stations. The sheds will then be donated to local veterans. This event will support local contractors seeking to hire new employees and provide key training for our workforce.
Multiple hiring opportunities for youth and military veterans will make this a win-win situation for our communities.
